Green silicon carbide is produced in the same way as black silicon carbide, but with different requirements for raw materials. Green silicon carbide is made of petroleum coke and high-quality silica as the main raw material. It is enriched with salt as an additive and is smelted in a high-temperature resistance furnace. The crystallized smelt is high in purity and hardness. The hardness is between corundum and diamond. Mechanical strength is higher than corundum.
The physical properties are similar to those of black silicon carbide, but the performance is slightly brittle, and it also has good thermal conductivity and semiconductor properties.
